All of a sudden there were three sleds driving across the lake past the northern tip of Rattlesnake and down towards west alton. We were very surprised to see anyone out there (even though we wanted to, calmer head prevailed). Was it really safe enough to have sleds out there Sunday? On the ride home we were glad we stayed on shore and didn't risk it.
Bring on the boats!

I don't think you'll find an endorsement for riding on the lake on this site. I would hate to be the one to say, "you'll be fine go for it," and hear you went through the ice.
That said I saw several sleds out on the ice this weekend. Personally you wouldn't catch me out there right now. It looks sketchy and it just has the "feeling" of danger when you look at it. I can't explain it but I wouldn't be having any fun out there right now as I would be just waiting for disaster to strike. Hey, all I need to see is all the bobhouses have been removed from the ice. That speaks volumes to me. Those guys know when it is safe. Now I know people will say that they took of the bobhouses because the edges are thin. Whatever, if the edges are thin that means there are thin areas and more chances to go through.
