This might be a good analogy. Back when I was a kid, 7th, 8th, 9th grade (late 70's, early 80's) my best friend's next door neighbors were very very wealthy. They owned a summer home, oceanfront, in Kennibunkport, Maine. My friend was an only child, so whenever his family travelled with the neighbors to Kennibunkport for a weekend, he took a friend along so he had something to do, as the adults pretty much "cocktailed" all weekend. What a great place to spend time in the summer...although I was far to young to appreciate it. Anyway...as a kid, I got to know the people who owned the home. Well, later in life, by coincidence, they came into my pace of business and I recognized them. We talked for quite some time, and I inquired as to what the town was like after Bush Senior became president (the Bush family owns a summer home in Kennibunkport, for anyone who may not know). They said it all started when he was Vice President...1981. And only got worse. When a trip was planned to Kennibunkport by Bush, the "forward team" of secret service would show up to town days ahead doing security sweeps, and closing many well travelled roads. When Vice President Bush (later President Bush) was actually there, sections of beaches were closed, and many more streets. The folks I knew expressed that it was extremely intrusive, and often made it very difficult to enjoy a weekend. The secret service acted in a way that was not at all sensitive to the fact that many of the wealthy summer residents simply wanted to go about their business. Street closings often cause traffic jams, and made simple trips to the diner for breakfast impossible.
And that was back in the 80's. I can only imagine what type of security messures are taken in this day and age.
I would think a president spending a couple of days at his lake house will not be a good thing. Especially if he decides to go out to dinner or do some bar hopping (probably not bar hopping).
