My best friend had the exact same thing in his camp in Otis MA.
Don't know why under the pillows but they put them there on every bed. We cought the little seed hider in the act and removed him to a better location.

It's better to have removed him, than have caught a chipmunk in a trap that's only checked once a week!
That one mousetrap got moved, and the other tripped, tells me that the seed-hider was much bigger than a mouse. I had the same problem, but awoke to find a one-pound rat dragging my "mouse" trap around the house.
