Navigating at night, is something that someone has to practice, if you are not familiar with the lake I never recommend it...

AS for boat size don't let people here scare you away from using a 17' as long as you aren't new to boating, you won't have any trouble... You just will not be able to go 50 all day long... I have been on the lake for 20 years, and never owned a boat bigger then 18.5 feet.

Fireworks by boat, Center Harbor is the way to go in my mind... If you don't head into the harbor and just hang back you get an awesome show, and are able to get back home with out much of a crowd around you.....
