FWIW...

I just sold my boat through Craig's List. I cross-linked it to "The Hull Truth" because it's easier to add pictures there. I advised 'info packet' available on request (also left a hard copy on the boat) and sent an attachment with that to anyone who asked for it, and gave them the address so they could stop in at their convenience.

Since it was a 'well seasoned' boat I was fairly blunt in the info packet. There were couple tire-kickers who I needed to disabuse of the idea what condition a 30 year old boat should be in and 'yes, "as-is" meant you buy it warts and all.' I'd have sold it to anyone with cash, of course, but my target was the D-I-Y type and that's the person who bought it.

Having an info packet made up, saved from having to answer the same questions over and over. It also saved time for a number of people who would have needed to drive here to see a boat that wasn't for them. It only took me a couple hours to put togeher including a sample bill-of-sale.
