The point is that IMHO someone who is very, very wealthy and yet chooses to build a lovely home that is not nearly as pretentious as the one in Meredith is classier than someone who builds himself an obnoxious Taj Mahal.
Case in point is Mitt Romney's home in Wolfeboro. He could certainly afford to build the Taj Mahal but, rather, he and his family own a lakefront home that is smaller and simpler than many homes on this lake. And I know someone who has been inside the Romney's home and has described it as "understated elegance."
Enough said!
