Almost everything these days burns heavy black smoke because most of all things these day are plastic or made with petroleum somewhere along the way.
The picture looks like the people are doing the right thing by standing back and waiting for the engines and ladder to arrive. Acrossamerica has the typical arrogant attitude we as firefighters come across on the job. We ignor it and people like acrossamerica.
My suspicion is the there was some type of equipment burning in the garage with moderate fire extension to the exposure buildings. Sometimes block heaters in diesel equipment can cause engine fires, i have already seen a few this year. Hope nobody was hurt and the damaged equipment can be replaced or repaired.
