OK so bite the bullet and just sell your old boat before even looking for a replacement. Then you have cash in hand no matter how much or little it always talks volumes.
I also like to get pre-approved through my credit union for an amount I am comfortable spending. This way your walking into the sale and talking cash not dealer financing or waiting for financing.
No matter HOW you decide to sell your boat NOW is the time to be doing it.
Another consideration is if you really want to get rid of it price it to sell. Don't price it high and expect to have a lot of hits. If you want it gone you have to make it go.
Last you will always do better on the price selling it yourself.
FYI I consigned mine at Channel Marine. Although I did pay it off I was very disappointed with the way things went and felt that they did very little for me and were more interested in just getting the boat off the lot at any price.
