The Ames Farm facility was a real treasure to many many boaters. Now the state, at taxpayer expense, is trying to build boat access ramps around the lake. Some state study indicated that there should be 41 public access facilities on a lake the size of Winni. Not sure what that's based on, but they'll be lucky to replace Ames with a handful of ramps over the next 50 years.....again, at taxpayer expense.
