If they like water-skiing I don't think it would be a bad investment. I know for myself the more things I had to try behind the boat the better when I was younger the variety keeps it interesting.

In short don't look at this as something taking the place of them learn to Slalom ski, but rather another avenue, for them to try to keep the interest, and learning curve fully engaged.

Thats why wake boarding and knee boarding, have had such a huge following. Because no mater how good you are, there is always some new trick to try and attempt.
