Default That depends..

Alton Post Office often has no one at the "window" so you have to ring a buzzer to get help. Help may come right away, or it may take a minute or two, or several minutes; sometimes you will hear a voice acknowledge that you are out there waiting.

Now the Alton Bay PO is small, and with the new window hours of 12 noon to 4PM M-F and 8-12 on Sat, you can get the clerks attention. However, with the shortened hours, the mail doesn't necessarily get up as quick as it used to (I got Thurs Baysider on Sat, but it is not 1st class mail).

When I get a package that is being delivered by USPS, and it is coming Priority, I get the tracking number. I have had situations where I saw it was at the PO for delivery, went there and was told it was not. Went home and got the tracking # and low and behold, there it was on the floor.

I find the USPS site to be accurate. If it has been received by the PO and shown out for delivery, it is there.

If you have a lot of problems, contact the regional USPS office, which I believe is now down in Manchester. Good luck.
