Last year there was open water between the cattle and bear?
Went out to Bear from cattle last year, if you head into the woods to the south of the Cattle ramp you should be able to get onto solid ice about a hundred feet that way. My brothers and I did last year, and there was no problem walking over to Bear once we got onto the ice. This was much later in the year (early March), but that's my best advice for getting around the circulator at cattle.
