My brother and I left Tuftonboro @ 9:45 sharp, went through Alton and Epsom circles and then reverted to a cherished "old" route down 28/3 to Hooksett -- thereby totally avoiding Concord/Loudon. We made the MA border in 1:38, and posted a new family record -- door to door from Melvin to my house in an astounding 6:46 (and this included filling an empty tank in Wolfe City and
sitting down for lunch in CT.
The gauntlet has been thrown down, the line drawn in the sand, the lofty standard set. Other family members now quake in our presence. (Best of all, he and I can no longer compete for 'best time' since we were both in the car. Now, if I can only replicate this feat with my wife, four kids, and dog in the family truckster...)
