Having built on an undeveloped waterfront lot in Meredith 4 years ago. I can sympathize with the developer. At the time I was the homeowner and wonder if there would be as much uproar if this wasn't a subdivision (a whole 2 houses).

If they lot owners want the island to remain undeveloped they should offer to buy the land as is done on Squam. If they are not ready for this type of investment then they should work with the builder to find some middle ground. Calling a 2400 sq/ft house a McMansion is not a good start..........
