Default Diner History 101

A bit of history about the Union Diner. The diner was moved there by Paul Christy around 1964-65. He owned and operated it as Paul's Diner until 1970, when he passed ownership over to his son. It originally was positioned at a different angle, much closer to the road. It was moved back and incorporated into the present mini mall when the mall was erected and became Paugus Diner somewhere along the way.

Spider Osgood, a popular short order cook at the old Shore Diner, was employed there for a while after he left his employment at the Shore Diner. There is video footage of Spider in action at the Paugus Diner, a copy of which was featured at the Laconia Historical Society's exhibit about local diners a few years ago. It has been known as the Union Diner for several years now - an oasis for the hungry traveler along busy Union Avenue.
