Then the Winnipesaukee House and apparently at some point the Dell-O-Lodge with a swimming pool! I have been going to the lake for many years and always knew it as the Alton Bay Inn. Only a 2 hour ride from Boston via Rt. #1 to Portsmouth, NH on to Spaulding Turnpike to Rochester, onto Rt. #11 to Alton Bay. Also trains from North Station and busses from Park Square, Boston.
