Last summer, I heard that plane nearly every weekend. (Less often in previous years). From here, the treeline blocks most views of it (from 2 miles away).
From boating near Rattlesnake Island, I recall that it was either a Sukhoi or Yak—Russian aerobatic planes shipped here and assembled from kits. Both have radial engines.
Before looking for a ride, you'll have to take a good look at the canopy to see if it's the single-seater or the rarer two-seater. As their range is relatively short, that plane could be operating out of Rochester Airport. There
could be a ride for you.
