You need a "Certificate of Boating Safety Education" (NASBLA) to operate a boat on the lake. You can get one at RI DEM in Providence at the Foundry. You have to study, then take a proctored written exam given every two weeks at The Foundry in Providence. You can call RI DEM and they will send you a package of study material. NB
