One question on Popham--aren't all the Maine beaches brutally cold? My parents are in York, ME, and even there it's only the hardy that swim. Even compared to the ocean in Massachusetts, to say nothing of the lake.
If the goal is swimming and snorkeling for the kids, Mass is looking a lot better.
