The bomber crashed in a giant fireball while trying to land in Connecticut, having crashed into a shed.

This comes on a landing in 2011 of another B-17, the Liberty Belle, which caught fire on the ground and no fire-fighting equipment was available. (Landed safely, seven walked away—no casualties).
