Perhaps you are refering to the history of the Quabbin Resevoir that is located in western MA. Four towns were bulldozed back in the 1920's to make way for a resevoir that would create a water supply for the City of Boston. The four towns were Dana, Enfield, Greenwich, and Prescott.
