Ten years ago, I had a similar experience, in a boat half the size of yours.
Never saw what could have made them (between Rattlesnake Island and Wolfeboro). In your case, the
MV Mt. Washington can be ruled out.
They were huge, non-breaking waves, I had to surf them--under power--to keep from capsizing.
