My 1700 sq. ft rancher, average insulation, has both oil-fired baseboard radiators, and Mitsubishi mini splits we installed a couple of years ago to handle a/c as well as heat in the shoulder seasons, using oil in the coldest months. At what point does one cross the electric/oil efficiency line? I was told average 30F degrees, but it seems like folks are using the minis to lower temps. Thoughts?
