Harmøny Coffee House takes the "
ø" from the alphabet of Norway and Denmark, but is run by a nice Swedish lady.
It's located close-by Wolfeboro's red train station/tourist booth.
Their breakfast menu is based on real breakfast meals from Scandinavia. You're asked what you want--you tell them--and they'll serve it up.
I asked for French Toast, so a few minutes later, they called our number and served up something unpronounceable
but it was a good equivalent.
Compared to French Toast, the effort to prepare it was impressive, as it's composed of little breaded swirls--and the serving size is the same.
Harmøny Coffee House may have been designed from similar coffee houses in Scandinavia (like
Starbucks stateside), but it's been ages since I'd been there.
Katie's Kitchen, like
Starbucks, has a very different milieu, but the experience is decidedly European. Talk to the owner, who was very gracious with her time.
