The End Of Summer Has Arrived
For our family summer starts when the boat goes in the water (usually before Memorial Day) and ends when it comes out (usually around Columbus Day).
For us the end of summer was today.
We made one last trip to Fay's, fired up trusty Volvo Penta, and slowly motored our way to Glendale. By 10AM the deed was done. The boat was hauled home by way of a gas station (filled the tank and added some Stabil). By 2PM the colling system had been flushed, the engine fogged, the engine and stern drive oil changed, and the fuel and oil filters changed.
Now it's the cosmetic work needing taking care of. Got to acid wash the hull to clean off the scum, wash down the rest of the boat and maybe, just maybe, get a coat of wax on her.
Already I'm thinking about next summer.....
