The lakes region has limited population, a seasonal economy, and is rural.
As a result you have very limited dining options: this is irksome because a lot of the residents are well-heeled and previously lived and / or worked in or near major metro areas with myriad dining choices.
The lakes in NH are pretty, but there's a price to pay for living there, i.e limited choices...and not just as pertains to dining.
