If you're referring to the Haulover inlet videos that are popular on YouTube, that is not representative of the boating in general. Actually, Miami is just its own little world in many aspects.

On average you'll likely find that boaters in Florida will be helpful and far more skilled than the average inland lake boater.

The year round warm temps are nice, IMO, one thing you might notice is that Thanksgiving and Christmas really sneak up on you because there are no major weather cues that tell you you're heading into holiday season. Putting up and taking down outdoor decorations in 70 degree weather is much less burdensome than doing so in freezing temps
