I have been a customer of Cameron Hughes for many years. For those that aren't familiar with CH, they buy up excess wine inventory from many of the top vineyards and then sell it online at a large discount under their own name, (e.g., you can get a $100 cabernet for around $25-$30, or a $50 chardonnay for around $15).

When I first started having it shipped to NH, the order contained a "sales tax". I phoned Cameron Hughes and asked what was going on, as NH does not have a sales tax. They indicated that although NH does not have a sales tax, the state does impose an 8% mark-up fee to the shipper, (CH, in this case), for wine shipped directly to the customer. CH passes that on to the customer and it shows up on their order system as a "sales tax".
