Finished it last week. Definitely a great read. I was starting to get a little turned off with all the "risk management" interjections but the last few chapters left them out and I felt like I really knew Kate by the end. That said, proper risk management is probably the best equipment one could have.
I used to do a lot of solo hiking in the Whites (mostly spring thru fall). It's a miracle I survived with some of the risks I took. A fall coming down Moosilauke in April broke a finger and almost put me into Beaver brook. Another time a sprain left me with a 4 hour hobble out that should have been 1 hour.
How would you rate Ty's other books?
