OK, steaks tips are made from less expensive meat. But I disagree with the idea noted a couple of times above that they are inferior. If we put steak on a price spectrum, we've got tips at one end and filet mignon at the other, with meat becoming progressively more tender, and also more mild tasting, as we move up in $. So for those who like a chewier texture and stronger flavor, tips are great. (Marinade is required, and I'd steer clear of BJ's)
