It would be great to see more Marine Patrol boats out stopping violators, if only to educate and verbally warn the operators who violate the laws. I would like to think the violations are mostly out of ignorance, not disregard for the rules.
I think a lot of the newer boaters purchased their boats during covid and still have a lot to learn. We seldom go out without seeing multiple boats breaking the rules, especially on weekends. The rental boats, most that are easily identified by their markings, like unit numbers, are a big part of the problem.
Last Saturday was especially busy and we discussed trying to boat mostly on weekdays when the lake is a lot quieter. I know not everyone is able to do that, it is one of the (few) benefits of being old!
