Your ultimate experience sounds like an actual lawsuit may have been in order in light of the damage caused to your property.

Hopefully their Insurance Company stepped to the plate, but did they if you now are experiencing that nasty odor?

You'll never be able to sell that property and get the true value unless and until you can forever rid the home of that obnoxious smell.
