Probably wouldn't handle the wakes too well but then again nobody but nobody is going to intentionally throw "him" a big wake
I'm talking 1500' rule here ! As for aiming the gun you are correct. It's a pity the CG gets the 'hand me downs' from the rest of the armed forces. In the Navy the main guns are space stabilized.
