I have the same situation at my place.
What's causing it is erosion of soil and duff along the shoreline. Rainfall naturally moves "makeup dirt" from uphill down to the water, where it is again eroded.
My neighbors—who have few trees left and steeper lots—have a much worse problem. They've had to dredge their dock areas twice to keep their boats from hitting the bottom. (
And they have 50' docks).
