Just how big
is the woodstove?
My Waterford weighs 600 pounds, but it came in lots of easy-to-carry boxes. Putting it together was easier than assembling some Christmas toys!
At yard sales, I managed to find some 6" stainless steel pipe sections and a few Metalbestos leftovers to link to an existing metal chimney.
All stainless steel—
and I wouldn't use anything else.
Assembling the whole thing was easy—like assembling LEGO blocks.
The only failure over these years was the steel spark screen (topside), which disintegrated after just two years.
While a big fan of woodstoves, I bought an island house just this week in Florida, and the insurance company asked if I had a fireplace—then seemed to press the issue asking if I had —

—
a woodstove. (Horrors)
While the answer was "no" to both questions, now I'm wondering about the desirability of a woodstove on my island in the first place.
(Delivery/availability of wood, cutting, splitting, "building to code", spark hazard, insurance, etc.)
