LI......Think you're referring to Star mkt in Meredith.Shaws in Laconia is pretty competetive.Star on the other handgets 30% more for meat than Heaths or the other chain stores.Everything else is much higher too...produce,fish,even bakery items.The other day at Star I was looking at a ribeye steak for $14.95 per lb. and it wasn't even choice.It was graded "premium" black angus which is not even a USDA rating,it's one they made up as a marketing tool.At Sam's Club,whole "usda choice" ribeyes are $8.95....that's a big spread.
USDA grades are prime,choice,select,standard,commercial,utility,cu tters and canners.If they don't call it choice it is probably select or standard which is a much lower grade......some stores even sell commercial and give it a new name.
My favorite is still Heath's but I'll sure give Hannafords a try when they open.
