Talking Manhannock Island

In the Camp Idlewild 1912 Catalog in the lodge and location, it states that the name Manhannock Island is the Indian name, which means "place of great merrymaking." Interesting catalog!

Thanks McDude for the closer look at this island!

According to Bruce Heald’s book, Lake Winnipesaukee, the first herd of Guernsey cows imported to America were placed in quarantined here. This accounts for the island's name of Guernsey Island, which later became Cow Island.
