YES, very true. Snow can be (I forget the exact word) evaporate to the air, as water in a puddle evaporates. Snow can disappear without changing to water!

Rain on top of a snow-covered roof will get absorbed in the snow and add significant weight. Best to remove before there is a problem.

In Lakes region, forecast is for maybe 12" snow!
