Default Lighting is important!

Excellent points SSKR and FLL! I've learned from personal experience how bad the night skies can ruined by thoughtless lighting. The town I live in in winter is now so bright we only see a few stars and I don't need nightlights in the house due to outside skylight.....and I live in the suburbs! All that is needed is some care in the lighting design to avoid upward-reflecting light. Good info on this topic is here:

We've still got somewhat good night skies at the lake, but I see some areas fading fast.
