Default Crowding more than anything else

From my viewpoint in Alton Bay the above is more the issue than either boat LOA or displacement. I would agree w/Thurston that the "offshore" performance boats don't generate near as big a wake as the cruisers, ala Carvers and Silvertons, which can generate some big wakes. But when & where the lake gets crowded, (most) people slow down. Unfortunately they don't slow down to NWS but instead mush along where even a "small" boat generates "cruiser sized" wakes. Add 2 or 3 intersecting wakes and it's time to go surfing.
