Sorry for the title, just watched the Blazing Saddles DVD "Mee" got me. I wish the article was findable, I seem to recall that they did have the permits, approved by the town but that the state or fed gov't stepped in and said there was a problem. I didn't get the impression that the home owners were trying to pull a "fast one" but rather that a little known portion of the code was overlooked.
