If you can confine your cat to your own yard, then by all means let it out if you like. However, not everyone appreciates cats roaming around the neighborhood at all hours of the day or night. When that happens you inevitably wind up with cat fights, cats stalking birdfeeders, and just being a general nuisance.

Keep whatever pets you like, just keep them in your own yard...
