There's a model simulation of what it looks like that I've seen on TV, but I haven't been able to find it online. If I find it in the future, I'll try to remember to post it here.

The wiki for "supercell" has some interesting and hopefully helpful diagrams.

Not every tornado develops from a supercell, and not all supercells develop tornadoes, but the majority of information is about supercells.
