Default Marty Engstrom Presentation

Public Access 25 has been airing a video of a slide presentation by Marty Engstrom, which took place at a meeting of the Alton Historical Society in August. In it he highlights his experiences over the 38 years (1961–2002) he worked as a weather observer on Mt. Washington. The presentation was filled with wit and humor and there was a question and answer period at the end. Many remember Mr. Engstrom during those years, as he became somewhat of an icon in the area. His weather segments from the mountain were viewed each night on WMTW Channel 8. It was an interesting program and I wonder if anyone else has seen it? Channel 25 usually repeats their programming several times over the course of a week, so it may still be running.

Among the slides he showed was one of Pushka, who was one of the first feline weather observers in residence on the rock pile. He was born there, lived out his entire life at the summit and died at age 14.
