Sunday's dive with the Mud Puppies...
I suppose by now your all wondering how the diving exposition with the mud puppies (my 6 & 7 year old grand kids) went… Well, all I heard Friday and Saturday was when could we go SCUBA diving by them, never mind how much fun we were having at Story Land, diving was the big thing for this weekend. So, on Sunday dive buddy Paul came up with his dive boat and we set off for the far reaches of the big lake. After we stopped by the dive shop to top up the tank, we headed for the sand bar at Long Island for a BBQ and underwater exploration.
Once lunch was over it was off to explore the three-foot depths of the sandbar. We found rocks, rock and more rocks, fishes and of course an occasional treasure or two which was brought back to the boat. After about an hour of this kind of hard core SCUBA diving we all had enough and it was time to pull up the anchor and explore more of the lake.
A funny thing happen once we got back to the docks at WCYC, the kids decided they needed some more beach time since this was going to be the last time this year for them. They grab their masks and fins and headed for the beach. One thing led to another and soon they were free diving to the bottom searching for more treasures while we sat by watching them. One of our member/friends was in fear for them and couldn’t stand it any longer. He marched right up to us and demanded we restrict them from doing that because it was to deep and dangerous for them. The humor in it was both kids spent the summer at swim camp and two days a week diving to the deep end of our pool playing seek and find the coins. These two water rats can swim better then me.
