Have you any recommendations for a paving company that YOU HAVE USED? I am in Laconia. Thanks! |

Clairmont Paving (David Clairmont) in Gilmanton has put in four driveways for me over the years. All have been excellent. Family business, good honest people. Phone number is 603-267-6534. I'd call soon, though, as he gets booked for the year pretty early.

I have a large, complex driveway that we had done a few years ago by Cooper Paving out of Dover. They had no problem coming up to Gilford to do it and the lead time was shorter than everyone up here.
And the price...Considerably better than everyone I talked to in the area. By 20-40% on average. I reached out to all of the major players up here. |

Porter did our 10000 square foot driveway 5 years ago and it is holding up well!

A couple of years ago, I had a driveway put in at my new construction. I got bids from Porter, GMI, and Bryant. What surprised me was how incredibly close the bids all were to the others. I am talking to within well less than 0.5%. Now maybe they all use an estimator application based on square footage so they come out close. But I was left wondering about price collusion to be honest... I went with GMI based on schedule and it came out OK.

GMI had looked and said that two old galvanized culverts were fine. When David replaced then with plastic, the old culverts were a pile of scrap rust. I had asked GMI about the many rocks at surface level, the reply was that the grader would have no problem digging them out. David's midsize excavator had to work at getting the rocks out. GMI estimated that one 14 yard truck load of gravel would be enough to properly grade the drive prior to paving. It actually took 140 yards. Alan |
