Default Lakeview Dodge Closed

I see that the Lakeview Dodge garage on Union Avenue in Lakeport is closed and the building is vacant. I understand it closed a couple weeks ago. Does anyone have the scoop on what happened? Maybe the economy?

I was in three months for service and they were going forward two weeks at a time. The service manager was gone and the parts manager was covering service and reception. I had the impression a while ago that there was not enough business there to make a profit. They always treated me well.

I do hope that a replacement dodge dealer opens in town. While my ram 2500 sits in the yard a lot these days, it needs to keep in shape for snow plowing and pulling the horse trailer.

Lakeview Dodge was bought out by AutoServe and shut down. I guess they figured the Dodge dealership in Tilton was the only one they needed in the area. In general we'll be seeing fewer dealerships around as the Big Three automakers start consolidating them.

I haven't heard what plans, if any, AutoServe may have for the Lakeview property.

Autoserv does not own the lakeview property. All they bought was the franchise rights. Property at 1165 union ave is for sale or lease.

In January, the Plymouth NH, GMC-Buick dealer's building caved in under the snow. Just a short time prior to the cave-in, the owner had put it up for sale and General Motors acted on its' first refusal agreement by purchasing and closing the biz.

About two weeks later.......kaboom.....the snow caves the roof in!

All that's left now is the asphalt parking lots and the concrete slab where the building used to be.

It is directly across from the entrance to Wal-Mart and has no 'for sale' signs so I have no idea what's a-happening?

What would do well in Plymouth? Maybe the Saint Vincent DePaul Society will open a second hand store and food pantry? Plymouth should try to duplicate Laconia and go with Saint Vincent DePaul....all the way....what Plymouth really needs!

Default My observations

A portion of Fitzgerald Motorsports building is for rent. The same phone number is on that sign as is on the former Dogde building.

Let's make an educated guess: Dan Fitzgerald bought an old Dodge dealership, changed name to Fitzgerald Dodge, time went on, and he sold the business; name was change to Lakeview. I assume, the business people that he & his wife are, retained ownership of the building. They own the building on the Lake of Motorsports. Thus, the same phone number of for rent.

Remember in Belmont; they owned the former Suburu building long after they sold the business, which they started.

My observation, maybe worth just 2¢, on this Sunday morning!!!
