Default Newspaper article .. 1973 ??

While doing clean-up, prior to selling our southeastern MA home, I came across this article. From what I seem to remember it happened in 1973.

I had a summer camp on Scenic Road, ( Weirs Beach area ) way back then and this was a neat adventure to share around the water cooler.

And how the hippo got into his underwear, he'll never know.

We remember when this happened. Friends of ours had a place right there. They had both been out drinking the night before. When they got up in the morning, Gary couldn't believe his eyes...thought he was maybe a little too hung over. But Randy saw it too. That was on Neal Shore Road. Back in the day.

Sad (because of my current age), but I actually remember this.

I had just gotten out of the Army and was spending some time at the lake at my parent's summer place thinking about my future. I was sitting on the porch when I read this exact article. This brings back great memories, but I regret that I never saw the hippo!

Ow well, maybe next time.

Default Me too!

I also number among those who are old enough to remember this! It's my recollection the man's deck was a wrap around one...imagine the noise that hippo made going around that! Anyhow it is a story we still delight in telling to people!
