Got my latest Meredith property tax bill in yesterday's December 7, Meredith mail, for anyone reading this from a remote location like Florida or somewhere.
The bill is dated Nov 30, and is due by Dec 30, and you get charged 12% interest for any past due payments. From an October LaDaSun news short: MEREDITH $1,834,993,412 ........ total assessed value 2009 $1,820,649,639 ........ total assessed value 2010 . {$14,343,773} ........ 2009/2010 drop in value of one percent overall for the town The bill does not say what the latest amount/1000 is, or else I am too dumb to figure it out, so I am trying to find that info. I want to compare the amount/1000 from last June's bill to this bill to see if I should be happy or sad? You know the routine....well, the overall values went down one percent, but the new rate is now _____, so it ends up being _______.........go figure? ![]() ![]() ![]() How does one define "happy NH employment?" It is called working for the town! .. ![]()

If you take your total assessed value (land and buildings) and divide by 1000 you will come up with a number. Take your total tax bill amount and divide it by the previous number and you will come up with the tax rate. Example: Valuation $350,000 divided by 1000 = 350 Tax Bill $5000 divided by 350 = $14.29 tax rate Hard to believe that the tax rate is not on the tax bill....it must generate many calls to the Assessors office.
