HAve been checking for Johnson outboard dealers around the lake?
I searched the Johnson site www.johnson.com/ which brough me to the website for BRP USA...... Digging a little deeper on internet, much to my surprise, I've found Bombardier Recreational Products no longer sells outboards under the Johnson brand, and they have moved all sales entirely to Evinrude Outboard Motors. When did this happen, maybe I've been living in the dark too long or out of touch with the outboard community? Anyway, looks like the closest Evinrude dealer on the lake is Thurston's Marine at the Weirs. Bigdog |

Johnson / Evinrude were once owned by OMC. They declared bankrupcy back in 2000. OMC also owned several boating lines like Chriscraft, Fourwinds, Seaswirl and others. Many of the brands were sold. Bombardier purchased parts of the business including Johnson and Evinrude.
Here is a link to the OMC organization that describes the business end of the deal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outboar...ne_Corporation |

Parts are readily available for your motor, so no worries. They made zillions of those V4 motors so there's aftermarket support too.

Parts for Johnsons are interchangable with Evinrudes.
Years back I rebuilt an small Johnson outboard and was looking for parts. I wrote to OMC and they gave me several dealers to contact and Thurstons was one. You can also try Dave's Motorboat Shoppe on 11B (just past Beans and Greens) in Gilford. |

Johnson is dead. Gone.
Bombardier purchased Johnson and Evenrude from bankruptcy. Bombardier dropped the Johnson name/brand. Evenrude and Johnson were basically the same in the end. Bombardier manufacturers jet planes, trolley cars, boats, and much more. Canadian company. Bombardier also went through some reorganization. Evenrude gave up on anything less then 15HP. Gone to the Japanese/Chinese/Mexico/Belgium. My last 2HP Evenrude was manufactured in Belgium. Older outboard moters. This is a great resource for those with older engines.
